National Glass Centre
Interactive game

The National Glass Centre in Sunderland runs a comprehensive educational programme, supporting regional schools and universities. In order to support their key stage 2 programme r//evolution developed an interactive game to be used by students both before and during their visit to the National Glass Centre. The game’s character, Jacques the French glazier, tells the story of the glass making process and explains the history of glass manufacture in the UK, specifically in the North East of England.

Interactivity was very important to ensure good engagement with a young audience. The game was to be used across multiple devices from interactive whiteboards to tablets so cross platform compatibility was important. The game was developed using HTML5, CSS3 and javascript, ensuring it would work well on all modern devices. The new game has been well received by both teachers and students alike and is now a regular feature in the educational sessions at the National Glass Centre for key stage 2 children since the re-launch of the centre in Summer 2013.
